The HSBC Young Entrepreneur Awards is a business plan writing competition that provides opportunities for local undergraduate students to demonstrate their entrepreneurial skills, practical business knowledge and business creativity.

Rolling out for 4 consecutive years, the competition is a unique education programme that aims to cultivate and inspire young people's interest in entrepreneurship. It consists of four-rounded selection and is supported by workshops that provide participants the chance to gain in-depth knowledge in running a successful company. The competition was first launched in Thailand in 2004. Since its inception, about 1,500 undergraduates, comprising close to 580 teams have taken part in the Thailand competitions.

The Thailand competition will be held from November 2008 to April 2009. The three most creative and commercially viable business proposals will win Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards respectively. In addition, to advocate business proactive roles in environmental preservation, the Eco-Business Innovation Award will be specially presented to the most environmentally-friendly business plan.

To provide more opportunities for Thai students in exposing themselves into international level, Thailand Gold Award team will act as representative from Thailand to compete with champions from similar competitions held in other Asian countries for the Best of the Best Award, Diamond and Jade Awards in June 2009.

The regional winner will be awarded a business development fund of HK$100,000.
