Date : August 13-14, 2008.
Venue : Ramkhamhaeng University, Bangkok, Thailand.
Background :
High Performance and Grid computing are essential technologies for enabling breakthrough science and for advancing economic and business developments, especially in today’s digital world. Time to market, time to insight, and time to discovery are prime objectives of HPC and grid applications. Examples of such applications are high-energy physic, computational fluid dynamic, bioinformatics, search engine, telecommunication services, military and space applications, drug discovery as well as perhaps critical warning systems (e.g. for tsunami or hurricane).
The
Grid Technology Days 2008 is a direct response to the needs for advancing Thailand Science and Technologies (S&T) Research and Development (R&D), especially in the area of high performance/grid computing (HPC & Grid) and related applications. The workshop goals are therefore a) to bring awareness of emerging technologies to Thailand and b) to stimulate R&D partnerships between international and Thai researchers. The workshop’s program includes presentations from a team of world-leading HPC/grid experts who have conducted and produced high-impact research as well as involved in defining HPC, enterprise computing and grid standards and trends. Additionally, the Workshop offers tutorial sessions that will benefit not only industry audiences but also academia that can apply this important new IT knowledge to their organization and eventually help advancing Thailand’s S&T and economic developments.
