Software Engineers

Position will be based in Sydney, Australia.

Google is expanding its Engineering hub in Sydney. C++, Java, C, perl, GIS, Artificial intelligence, Machine Learning, search, whatever your skill may be, Google wants to harness it to further expand beyond Mapping in Australia.

Google is looking for extremely intelligent people with excellent algorithmic problem solving skills. We employ highly qualified programmers who often have a PhD or Masters in fields ranging from Geospatial Information Systems to Distributed Systems and are strong coders in languages ranging from C++/Java to Perl or Python.

The Engineering team at Google aims to solve the most fascinating and difficult problems in computer science and make a positive difference in tens of millions of lives every day. Google engineers are always on the forefront in the creation of new and exciting products in a number of areas, and play a key role in the development of one of the world’s most impressive computing infrastructures.

Google is growing! We need world-class engineers to develop the next generation search engine. Our engineering team, which includes some of the key people who created Google Maps, is applying its ideas to a range of problems including data representation, geospatial search, data mining, server architecture, computer graphics, web clients, and scalability issues arising from huge amounts of data and a rapidly increasing user population. Requirements:

* BS in Computer Science or equivalent (PhD a plus).
* Several years of software development experience.
* Enthusiasm for solving interesting problems.
* Experience with Unix/Linux or Windows environments,
  C++ development distributed systems, machine learning,
  information retrieval, network programming
  and/or developing large software systems a plus.
